On May 9, our plane will leave from Köln to the Thai capital ! We scheduled to spend only a week in Bangkok. As we have a lot of places to explore in a short time with a small budget, we must set priorities. To enjoy as much as we can, we booked a room in an hostel on the famous Khao San Road (The Beach - Danny Boyle).
After five nights in Bangkok so, it will be time to drive to Phnom Penh ! As it's around 10h ride, we will have to find some intermediate steps, somewhere in South Cambodia (the trip is not really scheduled, we know the main stops, that's all). Anyway, we for now think a week in the Cambodia capital is enough, as we rather like spend (let' say) a month in Siem Reap. It's in Siem Reap that we want to find a volunteering (I will do a post about it).
From Siem Reap, we will leave Cambodia and cross the Laotian border to enjoy Si Phan Don or the 4000 islands of Laos. Regarding Laos, we consider a month or 5 weeks trip, as well. From the extreme South, we'll drive to Vientiane, the capital, and then to Luang Prabang, in the North.
At this point, because of time and money, we have to choose between two beautiful countries. Either we travel Vietnam, either Myanmar (Burma). What would you choose ? We chose Myanmar, without hesitation (then the movie The Lady - Luc Besson, has confirmed our decision).
After the Laotian step, so from Laos to Mandalay, from Mandalay to Rangoon and from Rangoon to Bangkok, we will find a way later, maybe on the spot.

C'est donc à Cologne, que le 09 mai notre avion décollera direction la capitale thaïlandaise. Nous avons choisi de ne passer qu'une semaine à Bangkok, notre temps et argent étant comptés, mieux vaut établir quelques priorités. Mais comme il fallait tout de même s'assurer de vivre à fond, c'est dans la fameuse Khao San Road (The Beach de Danny Boyle) que nous avons réservé une auberge.
Après ces cinq nuits, nous voulons prendre la route pour gagner le Cambodge. Bon évidemment comme il faut plus de 10h pour se rendre de Bangkok à Phnom Penh, on se laisse la surprise d'une ou quelques villes intermédiaires.
Mis à part Bangkok, où nous sommes certains de ne rester que 6 jours, la suite de l'aventure est nettement moins tracée. Je pense que quelque chose comme une semaine à Phnom Penh suffira, puisque question Cambodge, nous comptons privilégier Siem Reap et ses alentours. Le plan serait d'y rester environ un mois, en volontariat (je reviendrai sur le sujet plus tard).
De Siem Reap, nous devons traverser la frontière laotienne, pour nous rendre à Si Phan Don, archipel des 4000 îles. Nous envisageons de voyager à travers le pays du million d'éléphants sur un mois ou cinq semaines. De Si Phan Don, tout au sud, nous devons rejoindre la capitale, Vientiane, puis remonter toujours plus au nord, vers la ville de Luang Prabang.
Comme je te l'ai déjà dit, pour des raisons de temps et surtout d'argent, puisque maline c'est au Portugal et non en Suisse que j'ai financé mon périple, il faut établir des priorités, nous avons eu à choisir entre le Vietnam et le Myanmar. Qu'aurais-tu fait ? Pour nous, c'est le Myanmar, sans hésitations (regarder le film The Lady de Luc Besson, a fini de nous convaincre). Pour le chemin et surtout le mode de transport du Laos à Mandalay, de Mandalay à Rangoun, puis de Rangoun à Bangkok, nous y penserons plus tard, voire sur place.
