1. Stretch your legs in Alfama
Knowing Lisbon means knowing Alfama, the most traditional and, according to me, the most unfamiliar neighborhood. Spared by the earthquake in 1755, the old buildings surround the narrow streets of what you could mistake for a typical countryside village, until you reach one of the many view points and remember you're in a capital. Lisbon Experience can not be without a charming walk through the heart of the city.
To go there you can catch the Tram 12 at Praça da Figueira or the famous 28.
...

2. Setubal - Almada by car

As we had a rental car for few days we enjoyed a wonderful sunny day and a short road trip on the south of Lisbon.
Step 1 : cross Vasco da Gama Bridge
Step 2 : Setubal (click here)
Step 3 : Arrabida

From Setubal to reach the small town of Sesimbra, you just have to drive along the coast, crossing the Arrabida Natural Park (Parque Natural da Arrabida). I wish you to see this other little piece of paradise where a thick forest hides an unreal beach. What an amazing show when the deep flora green reveals suddenly the shinning blue of the ocean.

Etape 4 : Sesimbra

Surrounded by the Arrabida Natural Park, near the ocean, Sesimbra attracts many Portuguese tourists. I advise you to go there for taking a beer after a walk in the Park, or for chilling at the beach. You don't need to stay so long...

Step 5 : Costa da Caparica (click here)

Step 6 : cross 25 April Bridge
3. Nazare and Peniche

You definitely have to go to Nazare ! Famous for its impressive waves and surf contests, this town is both touristic (along the beach) and typical (up the hill). Few dried fish stands separate the beach from the street where pastelarias are waiting for you. The upper part of the town (reachable by the funicular) offers an incredible view over the unbridled ocean and the cliffs further. Don't forget to admire the waves from the fort at the tip of the cliff.

Heading back to Lisbon from Nazare, a short stop in Peniche pays out. (Area known for having great surf spots).
