After 11 hours trying to sleep as comfortable as possible in the plane, we finally step on the Thai ground. As expected, the first shock comes from the temperature, 40°. It feels like someone is standing on your shoulders.

Happy to be here in Bangkok, we grab our bags and jump in the crowd of the BTS (skytrain). From the train we see the first buildings appearing, the huge labyrinth of roads and the slums displaying the poor side of the capital.

Arrived at the Phaya Thai station we take a grab&go taxi to our guest house near Khaosan Road, the Amazing House. So here is my first advise for you in Bangkok : don't take a grab&go taxi at the BTS exit. We pay 400 BATHS when the usual price is around 75B for 5km. First scam of our adventure !

Anyway, our guest house is super ok. Especially for the price of 2700B which is 67EUROS for 6 nights for two. Our room is blue, small but furnished with air conditioned and a fan. I bet you guess that Air con and Fan are our two new best friends here in Bangkok. I'm also glad that there is no cockroaches, no spiders and no mosquitoes in it, just few geckos for our biggest pleasure.

Discovering around our place, we feel released that we chose this accommodation. The first we booked was in the middle of Khaosan Road, which means tourists everywhere and no sleep. Our current street is also full of small restaurants and street food merchants. But it's way more cute and calm even though not far from Khaosan.

We spend the first two or three days to walk around. Bangkok has most of the time large and very busy streets. Cars, buses, taxis, scooters, motorbikes, bikes, tuk tuk... It's good to be a pedestrian !

To escape this permanent noisy mess you can explore some temples or find a peaceful park and chill near a fountain hoping that some drops come to you with the wind.

According to me, the best way to see Bangkok is by boat. From there, you can admire the army of high rises and the slums directly along the Chao Phraya river.
