Bangkok - what I've done and advise you to do

1. Wat Yannawa

This monument is known as the Boat Temple, due to its sharp. You can enjoy this beautiful temple and go inside a room where people are praying among many Buddha and old monks statues. Generally this is not a touristic place at all.

To go there : Take a boat to Central Pier (Sathorn). When you go out of the boat, it's on your right.

2. Wat Pho

This temple is one of the biggest, oldest and among the most significant in Thailand. It is famous mostly for the 46 m long Reclining Buddha (seen in "The Beach" from Danny Boyle). The statue represents Buddha's entry into Nirvana and is really impressive.

Into the temple complex you can walk around 91 small stupas and see more than 1000 images of Buddha.

Even though you're among many tourists, it's still a calm place where you escape Bangkok chaos.

To go there : By boat, you go out at the station Tha Tien Pier, then walk straight. Don't worry, you gonna find Wat Pho.

The entrance costs 50 BATHS (less than 2euros).

3. Take a long tail boat to Taling Chan Floating Market

I already told you, the best way to see Bangkok, the "Venice of the East", is definitely by boat ! This long tail boat offers private tours on the canals, especially to see the floating market of Taling Chan. You can choose a tour of 1 hour or 90minutes (which I recommend you). You're done with the buildings and this busy part of the capital, with the boat you cross all the small houses weirdly built along the canals. On the way some merchants gonna ask you to buy all kinds of stuff, even bread to feed the fish, DO IT. Once a small piece of bread touches the water, tons of fat and frenetic fish come near you boat. In Bangkok, the pure mess is also underwater.

The floating market is nice, we find it kind of small and a bit disappointing. But I guess we are there to late, I advise you to do Taling Chan on the morning, around 10am.

4. China Town

You have to see China Town by night, and eat there (especially if you love sea food, but try to avoid the restaurants with shark fins). You are immediately dazzled by all the colorful lights, the noise of the street is completely crazy, and you loose yourself among a huge crowd of all kinds of people.

5. Chatuchak Market

This market takes place only on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Full of tourists and locals, with 15 000 different stalls selling absolutely everything, Chatuchak Market is the biggest market in Asia and among the largest in the World. It's not really a good place if you have a restrictive budget for your travel, even though it's mostly cheap. You don't know where to look, where to walk, and even with paying attention you gonna feel lost half of the time.
