Asia Step 2 - Thailand/Cambodia Border Crossing

Leaving Bangkok is pretty difficult, we like the town and we don't know what we gonna find at our next stop, Battambang in Cambodia.

A minivan comes to pick us up in front of our guest house with few other tourists inside. Then we drive, drive, drive... To reach Aranya Prathet and cross the border.

The road is not as flat as in Europe. Better it is if you're not sick. But staying focus on the landscapes through the window keep you occupied for some hours, 5 precisely, until the border office.

The minivan stops us in a little house out of wood, a rest area near the highway. There, they give us our Cambodian visa for $40. Here again an advise, it's apparently known that at this border point (Aranya Prathet) scamming is a part of the deal. In this rest area you can say no for the visa, and make it later at the real border office for $30, what we didn't know.

Crossing a border by land is also something I do for the first time in my life. It doesn't make me feel so safe and comfortable. Thankfully, Tobias already did several times in Central America.

We say good bye to Thailand and put our first foot in Cambodia.

Around the border, on the Cambodian side, it's the mess again. People are running and screaming everywhere. It seems very dirty and, without any surprise, really poor.

After the passport control, we take a second bus to Battambang, for few hours more.

(I'm nice, I don't write in detail all the different useless buses and minivans we know on the way.)
