Asia Step 3 - Cambodia Battambang and its crazy surroundings

We arrive in Battambang kind of late and really tired after more than 9 hours of bus. Going out of the bus is not so easy as a lot of people run to us screaming if we want to ride a motorbike, a tuk tuk or eat, drink... Eating, for sure we want but the only food available at our arrival are different kinds of insects.

Finally we choose a super tuk tuk, called Wendy (the car, not the driver). He brings us to our hotel, the First Hotel and asks us if we would like to do a tour with him as guide the next day, what we accept.

The hotel is great, the room is quite big and I enjoy to have a private bathroom again. We also just pay $6 per night for two, which is amazing.

By night, we search for some street food around our place. It's super dark as there's no street light. We find our dinner at the terrace of a small stall near a beautiful fountain and the river.

The day after, first full day in Cambodia, we meet our driver and guide. We drive through Battambang and then further in the countryside. It's magical this mix of deep green plants and trees of all kinds, the yellow still waiting for the rainy season and the red earth all around.

I was afraid seeing the town (especially by night) that Cambodia is not as my expectations promised me it would be. The town itself doesn't look inviting, people seem quite cold. I felt almost unsafe.

I'm more than happy to discover that the countryside is way more warm and nice than I ever imagined Cambodia.
