- Day 1 -

Arrival - discovering our hotel (Domus Sessoriana), chilling on the rooftop and dining at Sanlollo in San Lorenzo.

Thursday 3rd of August, Meersburg... The alarm rings at 6 am. We're heading to the small train station of Oberuldhingen from where we begin a 4 hours journey to the tiny FKB airport, also via a 30 minutes bus from Baden-Baden train station ... Surprisingly, our flight lands at the Ciampino Airport 25 minutes before the scheduled time, so we can take a shuttle and arrive earlier [something like 5 pm] at our hotel.

Our very first consideration is obviously the heat...

Happiness can be read on our face when we finally get into our fresh room 119.

Domus Sessoriana - Piazza di S. Croce in Gerusalemme, 10, 00185, Roma

After a cold shower, we kinda run out on the promised rooftop.

Hotel Rooftop

Music : Jovanotti - Bella

To have dinner we walk few minutes to the next neighborhood, San Lorenzo, famous to be alternative and so mostly attractive for youth. The narrow streets are kinda rundown, street art appears on nearly every walls, and we cross a lot of cute restaurants and bars. We settle at one called Sanlollo and order una caraffa di vino rosso, il vino della casa, a bruscetta and a delicious pizza parmigiana.

After few beers - Nastro Azzurro© - and cigarettes, we sleep like babies.

- Day 2 -

Throwing our coins in Trevi, climbing the Piazza di Spagna stairs, cooling ourselves down through the Villa Borghese gardens, dining at La Mucca Bischera and getting drunk at Ferrovecchio

Ready to go

After a good and fresh night of sleep, a breakfast on the rooftop, we make ourselves ready for a long day going through very famous spots in Rome.

Our plan is to walk toward the Trevi Fountain. On our way, we first cross Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, a garden where currently is an open-air cinema among palm trees and ruins.

We enjoy the beautiful streets of the Italien capital and get lost in the midst of its colors : ochre, pale pink and aged white.

After nearly an hour we reach the fabulous fountain and its hundreds international tourists.

Our coins are thrown !

Music : Goran Bregovic - Bella Ciao

We arrive then to Piazza di Spagna and its remarkable stairs. Climbing with 40° is not a simple task, but for the view it's offering it is absolutely worth it ! Moreover, it is also the way to enter the Villa Borghese and so a huge garden where trees protect you from melting, being fried, burned, baked, ...

We photograph the view from the top of the Piazza di Spagna stairs and head to Villa Borghese. Before, we shortly stop at the French Academy, the Villa Medici where we visit a modern art exhibition.

We choose to take the metro to go back to our hotel. Which is, at the end, a pretty bad idea as it's completely full and the five stations around Domus Sessoriana are closed for renovation during August 2017.

- Cold shower and moment of chill at the air con NEEDED - Afterwards we dress for the evening and return to San Lorenzo for diner.

La Mucca Bischera - Via degli Equi 56, 00185 Roma

Gnocchi parmigiana (tomato sauce, eggplant and mozzarella), orecchiette with blue cheese, pesto and nuts (f***ing amazing !) and, of course, il vino rosso della casa.

Ferrovecchio - Via dei Sabelli 32, 00185 Roma

Well fed we walk few meters away and end up in this really cool bar - Ferrovecchio - a patio half open on the street, great music, mood and drinks !

Our trip in Rome keeps going... HERE !
