My WE Trip to Geneva

From the 24 to the 27th of January I was in Geneva, Switzerland ! For once, I was travelling alone as the aim of this trip was to attend a Gender Studies workshop organised by Marylène Lieber, Professor at the University of Geneva and Karine Duplan, Dr. in political and cultural geography and scientific collaborator at the University of Geneva.
After something like two hours of train Strasbourg-Paris, few hours waiting for my 90 mins flight Paris-Geneva, I've finally landed in Switzerland.
TIP : If you arrive in Geneva by plane don't miss the free pubic transport ticket available from a machine standing in the baggage reclaim area, it gives you a 80-mins-maximum ride through the whole city !
The view from the Hotel Bel'Espérance rooftop
Once arrived at the hotel, my first move was to climb to its rooftop.

My walk in Geneva nearly involved an unique way from the hotel to the University district : rue Verdaine, Place du Bourg-de-Four, rue St Léger, Plainpalais....

Some words about the Workshop
I've met Albane while the workshop, she presented her association WE CAN DANCE It, a wonderful Geneva's youth initiative to fight everyday (and night) sexism.
Right next to Albane, Mélanie was presenting her association as well Collectif Afro-Swiss which fights "anti-Black racism based in the French speaking part of Switzerland".
The workshop was entitled: Policies and Power Relations - The Politics of Difference and their Spatial Dimension. The aim of this event was to bring twelve female researchers in geography and sociology together for a commun reflexion and a future collaboration in an intersectional perspective (gender, race, class...) on public policy analysis and the management of public space... It allowed me to enrich my knowledge about these issues, to sharpen my critical thinking; but also to meet several of the greatest researchers on this topic and share a sorority-mood week-end with. It was definitely an unforgettable experience, my first step in Academia's backstage.

As I stayed in Geneva the day after the workshop, I could enjoy some visits (not that many because I got really sick I was basically only whining for my bed).
